What does life require of me?

This morning as I took a few moments to read my Bible app reading for today I feel Joy for several reasons. This morning is probably the first morning I have felt clear headed enough to actually comprehend much of what I'm reading. I've been dealing with a bout of covid for the past several days. I can't help but to be thankful for my doctor and nurses, my wife and kids, and a host of colleagues and friends. All of these people have ministered to me, often by just doing their job or living out their relationship with me in a loving way that has helped me get through a rough experience. I also can't help but to be thankful for God's guidance on the medical community to have developed a vaccine that helped my ordeal be a 72-hour ordeal and not much worse.

For the past few days as a family we've been reading 'Better Decisions, Fewer Regrets' on the YouVersion Bible app - written by Andy Stanley. Today, I was particularly struck by the reading plan's closing paragraph on the last day:

Love.

Love fills the gaps. Love reduces the friction created by our limited insight, knowledge, and judgment-inhibiting experiences. There is much I don’t know. There are things I’ll never understand. But my ignorance does not impede my capacity to put others first.

So while I’m not always sure what to believe, and while my views on a variety of things continue to mature and change, I almost always know what love requires of me.

I bet you do, too.
